Assumptions about current management practices :

• This course is based on the following assumptions about current practices in SMEs:
  Standard pay scales have not been devised.
•  Salary increases are still a matter of frivolous emotion, without any justifiable
  foundation.
•  The enterprise cannot recruit competent employees because of the current pay
  scale.
•  The enterprise deals with a high number employee complaints regarding Com&
  Ben issues.
• It is difficult to retain competent employees to work over the long-term.

Assumptions about participants’ knowledge and skills :

• Many employers do not have human resources management (HRM) skills
  because they come from different industries. Others have these skills but they are
  not updated regularly.
•  Many enterprises have developed from small family workshops. As the size of the
  enterprise grows quickly, the employers do not have the necessary management
  skills to adjust. Therefore, changes to Com&Ben are made without a clear
  rationale.

Course objectives :

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Define the role of the Com&Ben system in terms of Human Resources
  Management (HRM).
• Describe tools applied to set up an adequate Com&Ben system.
• Address issues related to salary increases and complaints in connection with a
  Com&Ben policy.

Course content:

The course is split into three sessions as follows.

• Session 1 – Com&Ben – a great challenge of HRM
•  Session 2 – Tools to set up an adequate Com&Ben system
• Session 3 – Salary increase and problem-solving as to the Com&Ben policy
